In order to entertain more than 3 million spectators every weekend through a radio show it isn't enough to be a good disk jockey. Professional skills are very important, but the keys to the success are to be found anywhere else.

House Music is a real mission for Mr. Tony Huphries: over the last twenty years, he has become the world leader of this music genre and he constantly aimes at sustaing and commercializing it.

This is a commitment he has carried on since the '80s, when in Europe Acid House Music from Chicago (the definition of this sound comes from Chicago's Warehouse Club) was played everywhere and New York replied with Garage House Music, promoted and performed by Mr. Huphries in the Paradise-Garage of New York.

Soft sounds and rhythms borrowed from soul, jazz and gospel music merge in pleasant harmony on the dance floor. "I'm not satisfied when I notice the original features of House Music are set aside to give way to harder sounds. I can't stop this trend but I'm doing my best to slow it down in order to promote proper House Music instead of its commercial version."

He thinks the best way to spread his music is to travel all over the world. When he was invited to perform in London he thought it was incredible. “I felt like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky: plenty of American flags behind me and a crowd of enthusiast people around!"

He often visits the Riviera too. "The first time I played with DJ Ralf in DaDaDa in 1993". Since then,  he has played several times at Echoes - where he is often the special guest star on Magic Mondays - Pascià (under the chandelier or on the panoramic terrace) and Paradiso (when it was still owned by Gianni Fabbri). "Riccione is one of the most important showcases for House Music".

Which are the most peculiar features of Riccione's night clubs?
"They obviously excel in design and are huge, amazing spaces, which you can rarely find somewhere else in Europe".

How much can Riccione do for House Music?
"A lot, because most night clubs here play the good one, not the commercial version".

How do you feel before and after a performance in Riccione?
"Astonished...especially by what you see: everything is stylish...and women are very beautiful".

And what is left when you leave?
"Not so much energy...".
