Storia di Viale Ceccarini

History of Viale Ceccarini. Originally Viale Ceccarini was called “Viole”, (small street) and it was a path that connected the old suburb (today call Riccione-Paese) to the sea. It was on 11th of October 1912 that the Municipality of Rimini , that at the time possessed the suburb of Riccione, decided to assign  this street the denomination of “Viale Maria Ceccarini”, to pay homage to the historical benefactress of the Green Pearl. The street was enlarged in 1925 and furnished with pavements and in 1926 with a sewage system and the ‘road-bed’ in order to eliminate the dust of the “white street”. The following year the first series of 110 pine trees (Pinus-Pinea) were planted, and some of them still shade on the avenue today. Both the city and the avenue have grown at the same rate and the more Riccione asserted itself in the National territory (and not only) as a tourist location, the more Viale Ceccarini became the pulsing heart of the city. One of the first VIPs to visit the avenue in the 30s’ was Benito Mussolini and after the emergence of the II post-war crisis, Riccione saw the return of elite tourism and was considered the “Montenapoleone” of the Adriatic (between 1960 and1970) where it was necessary to go to be considered a real celebrity. Since the 70’s, the avenue has became a footh-path and today is more than ever the symbol of Riccione, to such a point that even the brand new Palace of Congresses was built next to the famous avenue. Today, the fashion houses are happy to link their name and their cutting-edge clothing to the city of Riccione and to the upmarket Viale Ceccarini, where everything is considered to be trendy.
