Sport tradition in Riccione dates back to ancient times. This is the main reason why the city is provided with plenty of well-equipped Olympic sports facilities

Riccione often hosts both Italian and European water sports championships. In 2004 the city inaugurated a new indoor Olympic-size swimming pool next to the outdoor one, and it has hosted an eight-lane athletics track hosting important sports events for more then thirty years. Fully renovated in 2007, it was the venue for the athletics world championships.

Not to be missed are the baseball stadium and the well-equipped gyms designed to perform martial arts (karate, judo, yoseikan budo, aikido). Last but not least are more than ten football and five-a-side football pitches which every year host important international sports events.
