Riccione: celebrating June 2nd
The first weekend of June (although not always a weekend but often the last extended holiday of the school year) always manages to surprise tourists and residents for the incredible crowd that pours onto the streets (and beaches) of the Green Pearl. June 2nd is a bank holiday that gives freedom to everybody for a day, even to the parishioners who do not have to attend any religious ceremonies. It takes place in the period of the year when the sun starts to warm up and the spring rains are only a memory. Consequently the weekend (or the bank holiday) of June 2nd comes to be the first real “summer test”, when the pushchairs crowd the shopping avenues and the beaches are ready to welcome the most demanding tourists and all the city’s attractions are fully operative, including the discos that start the “summer opening” and the nightspots by the sea star the “evening aperitifs”. The summer in Riccione starts June 2th (even if the two bank holidays of April 25th and May 1st come before it).
